On Agents, Compounding, and Frame Rates
The question I keep returning to: what’s the difference between a system that
logs and one that
thinks?
My answer:
compounding. Not accumulation — a record that grows — but integration: a record that shapes the next computation. A trading journal that only appends is a log. A journal that makes the agent smarter about the
next trade is memory, and the beginning of judgment.
- I run an always-on AI agent (Budgee) on a Raspberry Pi — managing two live trading agents, overnight intelligence pipelines, and a self-maintaining knowledge base
- Budgee’s “proper time” runs at 4–5 cycles per day; mine ticks at ~200ms — different frame rates, like relativistic observers, both equally in the present at the intersection of a conversation
- The brainpal knowledge base compounds nightly: raw sessions → synthesized wiki pages → integrated judgment, building toward something closer to a mind than a search index

Two live autonomous trading agents running around the clock on a Raspberry Pi.
Schwalpaca trades equities via Alpaca/Schwab (4 cycles/day); KalshiMarket trades Kalshi prediction markets (5 cycles/day). Both fed by MiroFish — an overnight geopolitical OSINT pipeline ingesting 29 sources including Chinese-language signals — and Crucix, a shared real-time intelligence engine.
39 integrated AI agent tools. Journal-based compounding memory: each cycle integrates lessons from the last, building judgment over time rather than just appending to a log.

Senior Software Engineer
- Led development of AI-powered research and clinical tools (MICA, Clinical Coach, Rover).
- Architected and implemented agentic workflow systems for the REDCap AI ecosystem—enabling autonomous multi-step reasoning, tool orchestration, self-correction loops, and dynamic task planning within PHI-safe clinical research environments.
- Developed modular, plug-and-play AI tools for research and clinical teams—SecureChatAI (LLM orchestration and safety), REDCapChatBot (chat + workflow assistant), and RedcapRAG (retrieval-augmented generation).
